Friends, I have not posted in a while as I have been going through something intense.  I didn’t want to share too much until I had a chance to process my new direction.  Have you ever had a transformational experience that changed you?  A few months ago I was show pony, but today I am a unicorn! Let me explain what happened.  I am an alternative health nerd, always reading 3-4 books at a time, both old and new on the subject.    I am always seeking, and one place takes me to the next.  It’s a rabbit hole really.  Deeper and deeper I go.  I am constantly trying new things I read about on myself.  Dropping entire food groups for a week or more at a time, new supplements, therapies, essential oils, vibratory frequencies, etc.  I have an open mind and try them all.  As a coach, I will not recommend you try something unless I’ve had success with it myself or have seen the results for myself.  My husband thinks this whole practice is amusing.  He asks me why I do this, as I am in great health to begin with.  My answer is always, “because you don’t know how good you can feel”.  Why not keep reaching?  I’m here on this earth with this passion and I am going to follow it and share it when I find it, and you know what?  I’ve found it.   In the second half of last year I stumbled on Dr Robert Morse’s channel on YouTube.  Dr Morse is a biochemist and naturopath in Port Charlotte, FL.  It was...

Health is Simple

Health should NEVER be a complicated issue like western medicine would have us believe.  The human body is a marvelous thing, and to keep it healthy all you really need to know is how to keep it clean on the inside. What is a human being?  A collection of cells, 2 major fluids, an emotional body and a mind.  Every cell in your body has an intelligence and a job.  Every cell needs energy and needs to eliminate waste.  Every cell eats and every cell poops.  The two major fluids in the body serve the cells by feeding (blood), and carrying away waste (lymph). 90% of dis-ease arises from a blockage in the lymphatic system (your body’s sewage system). Now you may be asking, what causes a blockage in my sewage system?  The simple answer is acids.  Down to the most very basic quantum level of physics, we are chemical beings and for health must stay balanced in our chemistry.  The acid side of chemistry is the destructive force, the alkaline side is the healing force.  Acids are hot, alkalis are cold. Wherever there is pain in the body there is an acidic (hot) condition.  Acids cause inflammation.  The acids we accumulate come from what we eat, breathe, and put on our skin, and our inability to eliminate them.  The human diet was meant to be alkaline in nature.  Alkaline foods are fruits and vegetables.  Acidic foods are meat, dairy, and grains. Why You Get a Cold or Flu and How to Consciously Detox

Here we go again!  “Cold and Flu Season”.  It’s like some kind of twisted holiday season the media spins up to sell us over the counter remedies as “cure-alls” so we can keep working and stay productive.  But, when we understand what is really happening when we have a cold or flu, the LAST thing we want to do is suppress our symptoms. WHY?  Because health.  The body is ALWAYS on your side.  And believe it or not, viruses and bacteria are as well!  To understand this, first we must understand what a cold or flu is.  They are viruses, and viruses are just proteins that ride along in our bodies.  When the virus enters the cells of our bodies we begin to have cold and flu-like symptoms.  A virus doesn’t enter healthy cells.  The reason we start get symptoms is because we were in need of a detox.  Bacteria work the same way, they clean up waste.  If you do not want a bacterial infection, stop creating the perfect waste environment in your body for them!  Detox! Isn’t it interesting that cold and flu season begins directly after the holiday season?  A season we spend stressing out about family, gifts, money, and eating copious amounts of rich and sweet foods?  Emotional and physical stress alone are enough to deplete the body’s immune system, but when we add toxic substances like increased fat, sugar, salt, gluten, alcohol, and animal proteins into the mix, is it any wonder that the body needs a detox?!  Your body is your best friend.  It’s got your back time and time again!  Many of us...

What Does Spirituality Have to Do with Health Coaching?

People are often surprised that I bring a spiritual element into my coaching.  They think I’ll tell them something they’ve heard a millions times before:  that is if they eat all the right foods and exercise enough the results they are seeking will be realized.  In a sense, this is true.  A shift in eating higher vibrational foods and increasing body movement when consistent will always produce real results,  however a beautiful body is realized much more quickly and shines ever more brightly when the mind is connected to the higher self. How Disconnection Hurts Us Without a deep sense of trust that everything is unfolding in your life exactly as it should, a threat to your well-being brings on feelings of anxiety, worry and stress.  These darken your energy body and you appear dull and gray to others and yourself. Stress is the number one cause of dis-ease.  Remember, the body is an animal and when the mind feels threatened by a stress you’re feeling such as this common one: too many bills to pay and not enough money, you trigger a stress response.  A stressful thought triggers an emotion of fear, and your body still perceives this as a physical threat.  The sympathetic nervous system switches on,  adrenal glands work overtime to pump out adrenaline and cortisol.  These two hormones get us ready to kick some ass or run like hell, a good thing if you are being chased, but not if you want to go to sleep!  These hormones send blood to the limbs for action and shunts life force away from the digestive organs, raising your blood...

Picture yourself in a body of perfect health and alignment.  Whatever that looks like for you.  See everything.  Are you naked?  What does your body look like?  More importantly, how does it feel?  Now, picture a life perfectly aligned with who you are. If you’re not still naked, what are you wearing?  Where are you?  What are you doing?  Flesh it out.  How does it feel to have this wonderful, strong, perfect body?  Don’t judge, this is a perfectly acceptable thing to want.  What does it feel like to be living your ideal life?  What if I told you that the longer you spend here in this vision, the faster it will come to you….with your inspired action and practice if you allow it.  We are all creative people.  In case no one ever told you, creativity is magic.  Even if you think there is nothing ‘artistic’ about you, just by your very being on this planet you are a creative life force.   Because, darling, you create your life. Has your body adjusted to the time change yet?  For us, that would be a no.  Last night my husband and I were in bed an hour early, for us it just seemed like the right thing to do.  Our internal clocks are still running an hour later.  I didn’t mind, my favorite time of day is falling into bed tired and clean to cuddle with my man.  But why is it so difficult to adjust to this time change?  Because biology, that’s why. Chronically Awesome Did you know that every organ in your body has it’s own schedule?  It’s a whole field of study called chronobiology.  The human body is attuned to lunar cycles, circadian rhythms, tidal rhythms, infrared light, solar light, gene oscillations (genes are expressive at certain times of day), hormonal rhythms and on and on.  Your body is on a whole earthy, lunar, solar schedule all it’s own, and my astro friends would argue that the stars and planets have some say too! So why fight all these natural rhythms in life?  The best thing we can do is go with the flow and offer support.  Have you ever heard someone say to you “listen to your body”?  Even if your airhead friend said that, she is a damn genius.  As free will dictates,  we can numb out to the body’s messages if we choose to, but this often comes with feeling “off”, you know how that feels right?  You experience vague symptoms like tired, bloated, sad, etc.  If we are wise, we will choose to listen and trust the inner wisdom,  and have faith...

Hello Seekers and Finders of Health and Glory! In my last post I spoke about getting past resistance to big change, whether that big change is moving through a block physically, spiritually, or emotionally, we all have them and it takes consciousness and courage to break on through to the other side (cue Jim Morrison).  After you have efficiently come to the conclusion that you actually can change your life, go ahead and install some practices. Why Practice? We don’t practice for instant gratification.  We practice for who we become because of the practice.  It’s a daily commitment you keep to yourself, a sacred contract.  And as you get better at keeping promises to yourself, you begin to trust you.  Think about it, what kind of self esteem have you got when you can’t trust yourself?  And when you do, that’s called confidence, and a big ol’ shiny heart chakra. You install a practice so you can be ready for whatever comes your way.  You install a meditation practice so that the next time a crisis occurs in your life you can stand in the middle of the storm and dip into your bucket of peace.  You are filling your peace bucket each time you sit your ass on your meditation pillow so that when stress comes your way you don’t show up with fear and adrenaline.  How often do you dip into your peace bucket?  Umm daily, if you’re like me.   How to Move past Resistance into Big Change By the middle of January so many people who started the year with the intention of big change lose momentum way before February.  Why is it so hard for us to change?  There’s actually a great explanation for this, but it does not bode well for a logical, rational thinker.  You must use your magical thinking, preschool brain (which by the way, we need more of!) and trust how it feels.  Why?  Because resistance to change is a deep subconscious thing that our logical brains cannot brain about.  Stay with me… Have you ever been so pumped about making a change in your life that you are gung-ho for a week or so, but slowly you start to lose that momentum and before you know it you are back where you started?  Well the moment, Loves, when you feel resistance come up is actually pretty magical.  Here’s why:  It is when things are really starting to change. Do not resist resistance!  Instead, dance with it, and transform it.   When you were feeling that endorphin rush of a new yoga/meditation/exercise/diet/whatever else practice you were using a part of your brain that is cool with the new experience, it digs the IDEA of change and what sort of new quality you are seeking to own for yourself.  But that moment when resistance comes up, “Ugh, I don’t want to go to the gym today” or “this juice cleanse is not doing anything for me, I want buttered toast”, that is the moment change has started to creep into your SUBCONSCIOUS mind...

  I hear it from women all the time.  “I’ll be happy when I lose ____ pounds.”  As a holistic health coach specializing in helping women find their authentic selves I know there is work to be done, not only on the physical level but also with her spirit.  I understand this because I’ve had my own struggles with not feeling good enough until I lost x lbs of weight.  I understand the feeling of not being comfortable in my own skin.  It’s not a good feeling. Feeling like you are not fully yourself keeps your spirit dull.  You play “small” in your life.  And sweetheart, that’s NOT what we came here to do.  The planet, more than ever, needs fully self-realized, compassionate women.  You’ve never had a weight problem, you’ve had a self-love problem.  And not surprisingly, when you begin the practice of self-love the weight falls off, and a beautiful body manifests.  Align with your inner goddess and see the magic for yourself! There is a constant dialogue between a woman and her body.  And for the most part, it is anything but kind.  In front of a mirror, we silently tell our bodies that they are fat, ugly, disgusting, not good enough.  We weren’t born speaking this way to ourselves.  Observe any toddler to know that self-love is your natural birthright.   Recently I was visiting with a friend who’s 2 year old little girl was happily playing shirtless in the dirt, and very much in love with her very round, yummy toddler belly.  Sadly, the joy we feel in our bodies does not last long.  It’s as if we grew up in a part of the world that put something in the water that made not loving your body okay.  Not only is it okay to not love your body in our culture, it is “cool”.  Ask any girl 9 years of age and older if she loves her body, she will tell you what about her is flawed.  Even my 9 year old daughter told me recently that she wants to pluck her eyebrows.  It is difficult to find a woman alive in America who has not been affected by this complete nonsense.
